STEPS AND GUIDANCE OF HOW TO BECOME A MODEL
What is Modelling?
In modelling,
A model basically promote/display/exhibit a product of a client to public or any such targeted audience
through visual medium by his/her posing/walking skills. A model helps
in selling that product by enhancing it in a beautiful way.
So modelling is basically a glamorous and beautiful profession as it has lots of such factors which are exciting like sets/studios/runways/locations/make up/hair styling/garments/creativity/ and photography to make things more beautiful or appealing to buy,
But at same time modelling is very challenging and competitive profession also, for example for making a few seconds tv ad ,there is normally few days hard work goes in ,but end result is what which matter here.
What type of modelling is there?
some freshers or people without knowledge in India thinks ,only fashion shows are considered as modelling,
but its not at all like this, modelling is huge industry, fashion shows are just a very small part of it u can say
there are various type of modelling is there
1-Print ads/Catalogue shoots/Magazine shoot
2-Newspaper Advertisements
3-Hoarding shoots
4-E-Commerce and website shoots
5-Look book and press release of designers
6-TVC (TV commercials)
7-Fashion Shows/Runways shows
8-Short movies
9-Music Albums/Videos
10-You Tube or internet viral videos
11-Tv Serials
12-Feature films/South movies/Regional movies/Documentary movies/Film festival movies
13-any display of any object/product in any event like Auto Expo or any such great level of modelling
14-Fitness Model/artistic or Fine Art Modelling
15-Direct modelling in some selective places/showrooms
Steps to start modelling?
These are some tips for all aspiring models before they think of taking modelling as career
self evaluation- your should evaluate yourself that if you find yourself made for modelling in various aspects and those are
1- looks ,more than anything else first thing u need in modelling is great looks or different looks, its not necessary means that us should be good looking at hell or out of the box type pretty but overall a great pleasing face or a unique face is preferred or your entire persona can also make u look unique or different and u can still stand out even though u look average, that depend on many other factors such as how u carry yourself.
2-passion ,a craze or a longing or strong desire is called passion in modelling to become successful, your interest or aim should only be modelling for a successful modelling career,u should live with this aim.
3-knowledge ,the right knowledge can make u a successful model even if u r average looking and a bad knowledge or having no knowledge can spoil your career even if you look like Greek God or world beauty.
so the first step is to search or find out where to start your modelling career from and how,for that see the best portfolio photographer or a launch or top modelling agency from where already thousands models got successful in past ,check their history carefully of making models at good level, and also the work will speak itself.
Second step is to take grooming classes of a top groomer only (remember there are so many so called groomers also nowadays, you dont require a pageant groomer or show groomer ,u need to get your portfolio done and firstly do print work only,so u need a groomer who cna teach you how to face camera at best level by making u wow in posing .so that not only portfolio comes best but also wherever you go after portfolio shoot to work, you win the heart of people/team by your work,if you are good in front of camera and you are giving results, you will get repeat value, means photographers and clients will take u in their shoots repetitively and your career graph will also go upwards as u will keep doing good quality work gradually and people prefer a model who is a delight in front of camera for their shoots, not just a name sake model
so GROOMING CLASSES are second steps as u gain knowledge about from where to start at first step.take it from the best groomer of the industry (MR.MANISH GUPTA)
The next step is to GET THE BEST PORTFOLIO done ,only by the top portfolio photographer only as your portfolio reaches everywhere even before you go yourself and portfolio makes your first impression, the industry is very smart they judge a model's entire mindset,her/his seriousness for modelling by seeing the portfolio and its done by whom, sometimes u can get some work by a portfolio done by amateur photographers or done in collaborations, but u then you wont be able to reach the main stream industry as those photographers are new, they can not show you the path ahead and can not handle you the way a successful models gets handled ,portfolio only decided how far you will go and whether u will get work and actual response from the real industry or not, should only be done by best portfolio photographer only, who has a history of making many thousands models' career by his photography already in past, free portfolio or free pictures can not give u the real career.
also see who can mentor you or who can guide u after the portfolio, don't go for a portfolio photographer who is too busy to respond u or who might be shooting celebrities,go for someone who has made celebrities by his portfolio and can guide u like a teacher well and shine u to the best and real diamond in this industry to become successful.
so you can get your best portfolio done by MR.MANISH GUPTA,who is also owner of FACES MODEL MANAGEMENT AND BEST GROOMER OF INDIA and considered as No. 1 PORTFOLIO PHOTOGRAPHER OF INDIA too,a person who has given career to more than 10000 models and 1000 plus super models and celebrities he has made,so you can not ask for better than this combination at one place anywhere in India.so the only place for best, real and genuine career is FACES MODEL MANAGEMENT

Height and body criteria for Male for Modelling ?
TO BECOME A MALE MODEL:
1- FOR PRINT MODELLING-
YOU CAN BE 5'6 OR ABOVE BUT WITH A CHARMING PERSONALITY OF COURSE AND KNOW WELL HOW TO POSE IN FRONT OF CAMERA
2- FOR RAMP MODELLING-
YOU SHOULD BE 5'10 AT LEAST AND ABOVE
NOTE:Having 6 abs or very masculine type body is not required for modelling, normally the industry prefers a lean and fit body, means first of all you should be able to carry all type of garments very well and secondly if you are building body, you should not pump it too much, you should look normal in shirt but without shirt your cuts and muscle should be appealing ,so this type of body is required, this is called athletic type body, but most of the work come by face value mainly,so if a model does not have a good body but have a very photogenic and lovely face and get launched by best modelling agency, still he can be successful and gradually later can build his body
Height and body criteria for females for Modelling?
TO BECOME A FEMALE MODEL:
1-FOR PRINT MODELLING-
you can be anywhere from 5 feet and above as a charming face with a beautiful smile can sell a thousands products if captured perfectly, height only matters in modelling where you come direct in contact with audience (ramp shows) ,otherwise in all type of modelling/acting a pretty girl with dynamic screen presence can make wonders and we have already made many short height girls super successful models.
2- FOR RAMP MODELLING-
you should be 5'7 and above for a good level of fashion show.Top quality shows normally takes 5'8 and above,if you are below sch standards and still you are doing shows,it means either you are exceptionally lucky or may be the show is not real or so.
and for WEIGHT for Female there is no a such fixed criteria
you should neitherer be too skinny like a skeleton nor you should be heavy or having thunder thighs or loose fat .you should be having a proportionate type body which most of the girls naturally get from God,all is required to maintain that,
for Example
we prefer 5'5 height girl to be somewhere( 46 to 50 kg) in weight
5'6 tall girl to be in 48 to 52 kgs
5'7 tall girl to be 50 to 54 kgs
5'8 tall girl to be 52 to 56 kgs
5'9 tall girl to be 54 to 58 kgs
NOTE: Again the weight part depends on your own body structure type also as some girls have heavy bones structure, all we can say you should look appealing enough in all garments,be it jean/one piece short dress or in Saree.
What Complexion is preffered in Modelling?
There is not as such any fixed criteria for modelling for complexion, you can be fair, very fair, dark, dusky, wheatish of any complexion, all you should have is a personalty, charming face, good toned body, photogenic qualities,
like fair complexion is considered pretty in Indian society but modelling industry loves dusky or dark complexion as it comes more intense in fashion shoots ,all designers, make up artists, stylists and photographers love dusky complexion also a lot.
So complexion for girls or boys is not a bar or criteria, you should have a charming personality and be able to carry yourself well.
What about Tatoos,Piercing,hair colour etc?
Is it important to do bikini or so?
No,its not important for females to do bikini look or so as misguided to them by lots of people, its totally depends on your own decision and your own comfort level.if your are comfortable then do it,else there is no need as such.
Only if you are going to do international level of modelling,or beauty pageants or some lingerie shoot, then only bikini look is required in your pictures otherwise its not,if your a having a toned body and your are comfortable to flaunt it then your can as its also a fact that oomph factor sells, but we feel it should be totally on your own comfort level and mindset not as an compulsion or criteria .Else you can go for bodysuit look which looks quite good, depends on you.but yes western wear like a short dress or so is must we feel as this is required from portfolio to all garment shoots also, but be it any dress,we feel it should be aesthetic and graceful ,should not look skimpy or sleazy at all and you should be able to carry any look with class and comfort and with your own talent too.
